We have been investing further in our purchasing partnership with Crop to Cup over the past few years, through whom we purchase many coffees in Ethiopia and Kenya. This is our first season purchasing coffee from Peru with C2C!
This coffee came to us at the recommendation of our C2C trading partner Danny, who many may know as "Botz." Danny suggested that this Yellow Caturra from Felipe Estella and his farm El Roble is "Caturra maximized for the highly intense washed folks." It didn't take a lot of convincing after that, ha! We are happy to be highly intense washed folks, and to be bringing you this zinger in the midst of an incredible season in Peru.
This coffee is all juice and fruited acidities. Hovering in the tropical yellow realm, we taste hefty doses of pineapple and mango. The juiciness of this coffee paired with the fruit profile truly reminds us of Capri Sun pouches from late 90's kids soccer games. While tropical fruit can at times indicate "overripe" flavors, Felipe's Yellow Caturra maintains cleanliness across the board. A real delight, and one we think is aptly placed among a slew of other great Peruvian selections this year.
