We have been expanding our sourcing partnership with the Coffee Quest over the past couple years, and it is a privilege to bring you yet another coffee through them. In blind cupping through a table of Pink Bourbons and Geshas, Reinel Borbon's El Espejo Pink Bourbon made us think one thing: "This belongs on Thankfully's menu."
There's only a couple things that could mean, and for those who have been around with us for a while you probably already know. Cleeeeeeeeeaann. Haha. And yes, I do say that it is delightfully clean and not leaning into ferment. But the profile also has such a unique one for a PB.
We are getting bright, sweet fig and pear, as the primary fruit expression. This is not your more common "red" profile for a PB, and having just featured a red bomb from Erick Bravo, we are loving the change of pace here. Wrapping up the profile is a dense, wildflower honeyed sweetness. The florality is not bursting forth as to stand alone as a flavor descriptor, and yet we can't help but sense its presence in the cup, tied in with that sticky honeyed sweetness. The floral attribute will probably show most prominently on our EL profile, if that is something you would be keen on experiencing with this coffee.
